New Hyde Park – Mineola Runners Club (NHP-M RC) is one of the oldest clubs on Long Island, founded in 1976 by George Erkmann.
George’s goal was to create a welcoming, social & nurturing environment promoting a healthy lifestyle for runners & walkers of all ages & abilities who have a passion for fitness & competition. Our mission is to encourage & support our members, sharing our goals and achievements. Club members are committed, driven and compassionate, providing a friendly, good natured & positive atmosphere. From casual runners to ultra marathoners to triathletes, you will have found your home with us.
Our philosophy: Everyone is welcome no matter your pace or preferred distance. We have members working toward completing their first 5K, to those who have completed marathons, ultramarathons and Ironmans nationally & internationally. One of our long-standing members, Joe “Superman” Salow has completed 70+ marathons – what an incredible accomplishment! Our experienced members are always available to mentor our new club members.
We are more than a club, we are a running family.
We meet 6 days a week, all year round, which gives you the opportunity to train for any distance your heart desires, and it’s the perfect way to meet others who share your interest. The daily meetups offer something for everyone. Track Tuesdays (5am & 7pm), Hill Thursdays, Long Run Saturdays and Destination Run Sundays. Each year, we also host our Annual 8K Race, which raises money for local charities, including Wounded Warriors.
Check Out This Week’s Schedule Here
Weekday runs are between 5-7 miles. Weekend runs 6-10+ miles.
Join us for fun, laughs, good times, cheer squads, philanthropy & many social events throughout the year (summer BBQs, holiday parties, food drives, clothing drives, brewery runs, and sometimes just a brewery without the run…). Fitness isn’t one size fits all, but our club is there for each other no matter one’s fitness level, a healthy lifestyle is what we all have in common.
If you see us on the streets of Mineola & New Hyde Park or anywhere in between, we hope you’ll wave and say hello. Better yet, jump in & join us!
“In running, it doesn’t matter whether you come in first, in the middle of the pack, or last. You can say, ‘I have finished.’ There is a lot of satisfaction in that.” – Fred Lebow
“To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift.” – Steve Prefontaine
