Code of Conduct

New Hyde Park – Mineola Runners Club (NHP-M RC) seeks to build and maintain a community in which all members feel welcome, safe, and supported in all their Club activities, running, walking, and beyond. To this end, members are expected to act in accordance with this Code of Conduct.

  • Show respect for fellow Club members and others – Be kind and courteous.
  • Never use inappropriate or abusive language, or engage in bullying, harassment, discriminatory, or violent behavior.
  • Foster a safe, comfortable, and welcoming club environment for all NHP-M members and everyone you interact with.
  • Represent NHP-M RC in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Be mindful about any content that you may post or upload to social media sites.
  • Abide by race rules and engage in fair competition, which includes no exchanging of bibs, anti-doping compliance, no course cutting, or other means of gaining a competitive advantage in races where you may represent the Club.
  • Report any violations of the Member Code of Conduct policy to the Board in writing.

What to Do If Someone Violates the NHP-M RC Code of Conduct
Report alleged violations to the NHP-M RC Board of Directors, in writing
(hello@newhydeparkrunners.com), by identifying the individual or individuals involved,
the nature of the alleged violation, any witnesses to the alleged violation, and any
additional information that might be helpful.

The Board takes allegations seriously, will address them as quickly as the circumstances permit, and will act to respect the rights and confidentiality of those involved, while endorsing the USA Track & Field’s Safe Sports guidelines. At the discretion of the Board, a violation may result in:

  • A written warning.
  • Termination of membership.

Club Etiquette
Whatever and wherever the run, event or activity, manners matter!

  • Show up on time for a scheduled group run and bring your best attitude with
    you. Positivity is contagious.
  • Stick to the designated route outlined for the group run.
  • Be engaged with the group. Leave the headphones at home. Provide encouragement to fellow runners.
  • Be considerate, especially on busy roads, sidewalks, or multi-use trails/pathways. The goal is to share the roads/trails, not hog them.
  • Obey all traffic signs. NEVER assume a driver is going to stop for you even if you have the right-of-way.
  • Run against traffic on the roads.
  • Leave no one behind – (bathroom breaks, walk breaks, twisted ankle, etc.) Buddy up and stay together. If there are only two of you, do not leave the person unless you are calling for help. Use your best judgement. Wait for and welcome slower runners at group runs and support their efforts whenever possible.
  • Pay it forward. Get actively involved in Club activities. Volunteer to lead a destination run, spearhead a committee (Holiday Party, Summer BBQ, or our 8K race). Our Club is amazing because our members make it amazing. We need YOU!
